Australia and New Zealand: start of negotiations with the EU
Last week, the European Council authorised the Commission to begin negotiations with the two countries.
It concerns global economic agreements between the EU and Australia, and the EU and New Zealand with regard to all productive sectors, services, employment, health, the environment, harmonizing laws, etc…
The EU’s commercial objective is to tear down the barriers and the elimination of the obstacles to exchange with greater liberalization.
Amongst Italian and European interests, Confagricoltura points above all the solution to the strong obstacles facing the commerce that two countries suggest with regard to the wine sector, in particular with duties and excises.
Furthermore, the Confederation believes that the EU must effect a defensive stand with regard to rice, dairy products, and the meat from cattle and sheep, products that Europe considers sensitive.
