Austria: increase in biological
2018 confirmed the increase in Austria’s biological farming.
Last year, farmlands intended for biological use increased by 17,000 hectares reaching 637.805 hectares managed by 23.477 biological farms.
It is expected that the trend will continue and already in the autumn of 2018, Austrian farming companies have expressed their intention to change to biological production, increasing the biological area to 28.000 hectares.
According to the association of Austrian farmers, “Bio Austria” politics has created the ideal conditions over recent years for biological farming.
