EU farming commerce increased on the rise
An analysis by Eurostat shows that in 2018 the business value of farming products between the European Union and third countries reached 275 billion euros, equal to 7% of the Union’s total assets.
Imports reached 137 billion, and exports 138.
Between 2002 and 2018 the value of commerce has more than doubled, growing at an average 5% per year.
With regard to the volume of goods put on the market, in 2018 the EU imported 151 million tons of farming products and exported 99 million, with an annual growth increase of 2.1% between 2001 and 2018.
