Russia: the ban on the transit of EU products
The Russian embargo of certain important products from the EU, the USA, Canada, Australia and Norway has been increased to the end of 2020, but from July 1st the Federation has revoked the ban on transit for a series of European goods transported by rail and rubber, including agricultural products and agri-foods.
The transit of said products was banned in August 2014 due to the embargo and has had a large impact on the transport of goods via rail between Europe and Asia, seeing that Russia is one of the main transit countries.
Therefore, during the period of the ban, deliveries to China could only be carried out using routes that didn’t touch Russian territories, making delivery times much longer.
