Serbia: Land Prices
Miroslav Kis, President of the Agricultural Association underlines the fact that in Rumania, Hungary and Croatia, similar farmland of the same category is less expensive than in Serbia.
In fact, hectares of land in the country are twice as expensive in regards to Balkan average regional land and vary between 10.000 and 20.000 Euro and it is predicted that in the future said prices will increase further.
In a number of areas in the Country, rents have doubled in the last 5 years.
Kis adds that Serbia’s greatest problem is that it is not truly clear whom the farmer is, who the landowner is, who in fact cultivates and produces something, but whoever registers more than ½ a hectare of land is considered a Farmer.
