Uzbekistan: measures for viticulture

The government of Uzbekistan has launched new measures in favour of developing viticulture and the production of wine, improving control and reducing state involvement in the sector.
The presidential decree foresees the creation of the Agency for the Development of Viticulture and the Production of wine under the control of the Ministry of Agriculture, that will have the task of expanding lands for vineyards, the development of  wine production and the modernization of installations and the introduction of efficient technology from an energy point of view.
The new structure will help farmers and wine cellars to attract foreign investors with the aim of increasing exports by carrying out market research.
The Agency will also create sector specialists through cooperation with research institutes and foreign productive companies.  Together with the state committee it will guarantee the upkeep of the electronic register of the varietal cultivations.
